No problem. We can replace your air conditioning and heating system with very little effort. Usually within a day or two depending on the type of system you have. A Rooftop heat pump can be replaced in as little as 3-4 hours. A split system can be done in as little as 1 day, although if part of the unit is in the attic, that may take a bit longer. 

Is Freon still available?

Yes, for now... But not long. Soon R-22 freon will be a thing of the past. 

The new refrigerant is 410A and is used in all new ac units and heat pumps.

AC Units come in all types and SEER Ratings. The average SEER Rating installed today is between 14 and 16 SEER. The higher the number the more efficient it is. Also, the higher the SEER Rating, the higher the cost. We are normally at the low to mid area of pricing when it comes to air conditioning and heat pump replacement. A heat pump is very close to an ordinary air conditioner, the main difference is that a Heat Pump has the ability to run in reverse flow, thus giving heat. Heat Pumps work great in the Arizona climates. In fact, many homes already have heat pumps in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe. They have had Heat Pumps sense they were built and should be replaced with a new Heat Pump.

Seasonal, Energy, Efficiency, Ratio.

The starting out point today is 14 SEER. The higher the Seer number, the more efficient it is and the less electricity it uses when running. Today, a good SEER rating for a new ac or heat pump unit is at 16 SEER.

The newest Rating is now in force. SEER2 replaces SEER. 

SEER Rating will still be used together with SEER2 Ratings for a period of time.

You can expect to pay anywhere from $8,000.00 - $12,000.00  to replace your existing air conditioner or heat pump, depending on what brand, the SEER rating and the installing company. The fact is, choosing the right company for the replacement is usually more important than saving a few hundred dollars on a new ac unit or heat pump replacement. 

Choose the right company, not just for price, but for quality of installation. 

Choosing the wrong company because they under-bid a job by $500.00 - $1,000.00 can give terrible results. The efficiency can end up being worse than that of your existing unit. When an HVAC Contractor replaces a unit, he must make enough money on the Job, in order to pay for the quality of materials, etc. Don't be fooled by a very low price when it comes to such a large investment for your home. 

Prices of new ac units can vary widely. A typical new rooftop heat pump can cost as much as $25,000.00 depending on the company replacing it and the type, size and brand of unit. 

When replacing a new rooftop ac unit, remember that the investment shouldn't out-cost the return. In a very basic way of saying this; If you buy a new ac unit that saves you $1,000.00 a year on electricity, yet it costs an extra $1,500.00 per year to buy it, you've actually wasted a lot of your money.
